Aaron Jones’ Monster Year Needs A 2020 Sequel

Aaron Jones met with the media yesterday. Jones is one of the premier players with the Packers and in the NFL. He added the NFL part last year with his monster season. If you’re a good fantasy football option, people know you more than the above-average running back. There are people all over the country that probably purchased Jones’ jerseys because he won them a fantasy league. Jones seems ready to have another monster year with the Packers. In a contract year, I would expect nothing less from the young running back, and he is doing all he can to have an impact on the Packers.
Jones believes the ultimate goal of this year is a Super Bowl. That is a goal for most teams, but for the Packers, it rings true. They were one game away from making the big game and fell short. Jones shows the motivation is there for him and other members of the team. They have their eye on the prize this season. And the Packers running back is trying to help them get there. He mentioned buying a jugs machine to help his pass-catching. Jones seemed like an already good pass-catcher, and if he becomes scarier in that part of the Packers offense, look out folks.
My favorite thing was Jones shrugging off the idea that drafting a running back mattered to him. This isn’t a surprise. Jones and Jamaal Williams have been battling for snaps since they were both drafted and they’re best friends on the team. The former UTEP product embraces the competition and already communicated with A.J. Dillon about different things related to the Packers’ offense. It never felt like Dillon is a Jones replacement, rather, someone to replace Williams and move Jones more in the passing game to limit the wear and tear. This feels like Jones has the same theory.
The Packers star running back wants to be here forever. One of the big headlines will be that Jones wants to be a ‘Packer for Life.’ We’ll see. Running back contracts are one of the trickiest things in all of sports. Overpaying for a running back feels like a death sentence for your cap and the future. Let’s hope Green Bay and Jones can find some realistic options to get a deal done.
Cannot wait for 2020 Aaron Jones.
Charlie.
