After All These Years, Green Bay Will Finally Go International
Green Bay Packers have never left the United States. Green Bay is one of the only teams to have never played an international game in the National Football League. With the NFL rules, Green Bay will be required to play an international affair. How it has been structured by the league is each team in a division will play an international game. The games will happen in the same year that the 17th game is also at their home stadium. Gren Bay will basically lose a preseason home game, therefore, the economic impact will not be severe with this one. This is exciting for our international Packers’ fan friends.
The question now becomes where will they put Green Bay internationally? London or Mexico City are the obvious choices, yet, the NFL is talking about expanding their international appeal. With the Green Bay Packers being extremely public, I could see a scenario where Green Bay is one of the teams that ushers in a new country to American football. A place such as Germany, Argentina, France, Vancouver, or somewhere in Canada that isn’t Toronto, Japan, or any other Asian country that isn’t run by communists. The opportunities are endless. My expectation is they will leverage Green Bay to expand the international brand.
Unless it’s a Saturday game or a holiday, I typically don’t drink during Packers games. Crazy I know. But if Green Bay plays at 8:30a, I feel like I have no choice. That’s the lord’s way of telling you to have a few beers.
