Badgers Fan Rooting Guide For Championship Saturday
Wisconsin Badgers will take part in what people are hyping up to be the best Championship Saturday of all time. Never before have we seen four matchups with teams all in the top 10 this last in the season. It’s beautiful. This is exactly what college football wanted when they created the playoff system. People are clamoring for a eight-game playoff, but in reality, this is the beginning of the playoffs. How should Badgers fans root in the games not involving their team? Let me help y’all out.
ACC Championship: Root for Miami – This is pretty simple, but it’s where the dominos can really fall. Clemson loses to Miami, they still have an argument to be a two-loss team in the playoff, but it probably means they’re at the four spot with Miami likely moving into number three. It would bump Wisconsin up to one or two with a win which means a Rose Bowl appearance would be happening for Bucky.
SEC Championship: Root for Georgia – Originally when I concepted this post out in my head, I thought there’s no real lean either way because the committee overvalued the SEC all season, and whoever wins will be higher than Wisconsin. But I didn’t think about the Clemson factor… If both Auburn and Clemson lose on Saturday combined with a Wisconsin win, it probably gives them a shot at the top two seeds. Therefore, Georgia is the answer. Auburn would get kicked out of the playoff with three losses paving the way for Alabama to reappear like the ghost of Christmas past.
Big 12 Championship: Root for TCU – A part of me thinks that if things remain chalk for Championship Saturday, Wisconsin will vault Oklahoma regardless. Both will have beat Ohio State and only one lost to Iowa State. Wisconsin would deserve the three spot which means the Rose Bowl and avoiding a very good Clemson team. TCU winning would be pure comedy too for the Big 12 after they didn’t have a championship for the last few years, and this year, Oklahoma would be locked in yet they now have to play one more game.
As for the other games, enjoy those as a college football fan. There are some great ones with Memphis-UCF being the headliner of the non big four. That game should be a blast. I can’t remember a Saturday like this in a long time. Early December is a sneaky great time for sports in general.
