Badgers Move To Eight & Could Be Rose Bowl Bound
Wisconsin Badgers are playing for the Big Ten Championship. It is the most unlikely of title opportunities as they will have to play Ohio State, which is one of the best college football teams in history. It is a David versus Goliath showdown. Badgers athletics have been on that stage before as their basketball team took down 39-0 Kentucky in the Final Four. But this Ohio State is not full of freshman and sophomores, rather, grown-ass men. Regardless of Saturday’s game, Wisconsin is eighth in the College Football Playoff Rankings and could be headed back to Pasadena.
The Rose Bowl will take the best-ranked team in the Big Ten after Ohio State. That will likely come down to Wisconsin and Penn State. The Nittany Lions are 10th. There is a common misconception that Rose Bowl will choose which team from the Big Ten. That is inaccurate. They will take the top team in the Big Ten. Wisconsin cannot get blown out by Ohio State or they’re destined to play in the Citrus or the Outback.
Some people see the Rose Bowl as a participation trophy for the college football season. I disagree with the notion. Playing in the Rose Bowl matters no matters what anyone says. Wisconsin can promote the fact they’ve been in a New Year’s Six bowl in two of the last three years. That is a pretty strong selling point for recruits in the coming years. It would be great to see Wisconsin in the College Football Playoff some days, but we have to concede the fact that it is very hard to get there. Ohio State, LSU, and Clemson are head and shoulders above anyone else this year.
Some believe that there is some Big Ten conspiracy to prop up Ohio State. That could not be further from the truth. SEC homers are having a tough time coming to the fact that the Big Ten is better than the SEC this season. Ohio State has much to do with it but the rest of the conference has been strong all season.
