Better Hail Mary Catch at Cardinals Stadium: Jeff Janis or DeAndre Hopkins?!
DeAndre Hopkins made the play of the year on Sunday. Arizona Cardinals continue to be the most fun team in the National Football League, and they kept it up yesterday. DeAndre Hopkins made an absolutely unreal catch to snatch a game away from the Buffalo Bills. It was one of the best catches I’ve seen. He took it away from three guys and got to the highest point. The throw was equally impressive with Kyler Murray rolling to his left then hitting Hopkins with a rainbow. But I must ask… Is it better than Jeff Janis’ Hail Mary grab in the same end zone? Remember Janis came down with one a few feet away from Hopkins that was equally impressive. Let’s review the tape.

Both are sick catches. And both are hard to make. You have Nuke who is going up against three guys to get the ball at the highest point. Then you have Janis who is tracking the ball like a centerfielder. With that Janis has to come down with the ball and stick his landing. While these two catches look very similar, the difference might be with the number of defenders. Arizona only had two back there for Janis while with Hopkins, there were three defenders then the fourth came over late. That might give Nuke the advantage.
What’s crazy is the throws are similar by both quarterbacks. Rolling to their left, avoiding a sack and just heaving it up there. I’m sure Pat McAfee will ask Aaron Rodgers about it on the show Tuesday. By the way, the Packers should have gone for two there.
