BrewCap: Hader Flames & Finishes Minnesota
Move over, Aaron Rodgers, there’s another Wisconsin athlete who dominates Minnesota pro sports. The name is Josh Hader. Hader dazzled yesterday with 2.1 innings with six strikeouts and 16 swinging strikes on 32 pitches. In a couple words, it was fucking incredible. Milwaukee gets their third straight win, 5-4, and their seventh win in nine games.
Player of the Game: Christian Yelich – Even though Hader did the damn thing, Yelich provided the pop in the eighth inning. With the Brewers tied on a blustery evening, Yelich hit an opposite field dong to break the tie in the eighth. That’s a complete shot off a good pitcher, Addison Reed.
Sliver Star: Josh Hader – Mama, there goes that man, again. What a night for Hader. He made the Twins look completely helpless at the plate. They had zero answers for him, and it was a beautiful sight to see as a Brewers fan. Hader is a lock for the All-Star Game and definitely in the running for Cy Young.
Honorable Mention: Dan Jennings – While Hader will get all the love, it’s worth calling out Jennings’ performance. He came in after Freddy Peralta struggled and pitched masterfully for an inning plus. Kudos to Lt. Dan.
Next up: House money Sunday for the Crew! Junior Guerra heads to hill to face Jake Odrizzi. Could be a big day for Shaw and Yelich as Odrizzi can be a homer machine to lefties.
