BrewCap: Hendricks Dominates a Listless Brewers Lineup

Milwaukee Brewers fans got ready for the season all summer. The time was here. People fired up their grills to make their favorite sausage or burger for the game. They cracked a few beers whether it was Miller Lites or a craft beer. The excitement was probably at an all-time high. All of that went out the window very quickly. Kyle Hendricks could not be touched for the entire game. He pitched a complete-game shutout to beat Milwaukee 3-0 in the first game of the season.
Player of the Game: Kyle Hendricks – This is an obvious one. If you’re not familiar with these recaps, I tend to give it to our guys, but now and again, you have to tip your cap. Hendricks frustrates the shit out of me. He should not be this good, but Hendricks knows how to paint the corners. Whatever book that Milwaukee Brewers has on Hendricks, they should flush it down the toilet and start all over. Hendricks struck out nine batters and nearly pitched a Maddux.
Honorable Mention: Orlando Arica – A simple shutout to Orlando Arica as the Brewers didn’t get no-hit because Arica had three hits for the Brewers. A small bright spot is that Arica hit the ball and made good contact. He loves Wrigley Field for some reason. Also, it is worth noting that Luis Urias is right on his ass, therefore, Arcia is motivated, and that matters to him.
One Thing Worth Mentioning: The haters look very right through one game – It is one game, but those who hated what the Brewers did this offseason look like a pig in shit. Mike Moustakas went 3-for-4 with a home run last night in a Reds win against Detroit. Didi Gregorius, another guy the Brewers were tied to, also hit a home run. Let’s wait and see, but the time is not there as usual.
Next up: Brewers and Cubs start Game 2 on Saturday afternoon. The national broadcast will be there with FOX in the building. Yu Darvish versus Corbin Burnes is the pitching matchup. Darvish struggled in his Summer Camp start and Burnes has been awesome. Can Burnes actually figure it out in the regular season? Time will tell. Hot in Chicago but no wind so that’s good for Burnes.
Charlie.
