Brewers Shoot Their Shot With Ohtani
It’s hard to remember a player having as big of hype as Shonei Ohtani, the two-way Japanese baseball superstar. Otani can pitch and hit home runs drawing the interest of everyone in baseball. In one of the more cockier moves ever, Otani sent out a questionnaire to all of the MLB teams asking them how he would be used in their system. Reports came out yesterday that the Brewers filled out the questionnaire. It’s highly unlikely that Brewers land this Japanese mega star, but I commend them for trying to at least see if he will have some interest.
#Brewers have submitted requested questionnaire for Japanese free agent Shohei Ohtani. His agent, Nez Balelo of CAA, represents Ryan Braun and Jimmy Nelson and former #Brewers OF Nori Aoki. So plenty of references.

What’s a little bit interesting that may suck me too far in is the relationships that his agent has with the Brewers. Ryan Braun and Jimmy Nelson are two big names plus Nori Aoki had an enjoyable time here. Ohtani would be well represented here with his agent’s clients. Hell if this were a Scott Boras guy, he’s probably in Washington already. Brewers are way down on the list when it comes to making an offer, but we can dream, right? First Giannis, now Ohtani. It would be huge.
Only real way Milwaukee may have an outside chance is Ohtani decides he does not want to play in a major market. This I would understand given the pressure that New York, Chicago or Los Angeles would bring to him. Then maybe, the door is open for Ohtani to be a Brewer.
Until then, it’s a good job by the Crew for at least trying to have a conversation about it.
