Bryan Bulaga Deserves Praise for his Start of the Year
Offensive linemen do not get a ton of credit throughout the year. It happens and as a former lineman, we’re okay with it. This comes with the territory. Quinton Nelson of the Indianapolis Colts getting a game ball on the NBC’s Sunday Night broadcast was awesome. One of the Green Bay Packers players that people have failed to give the praise he deserves this season is Bryan Bulaga. Dude is doing absolute work at the right tackle position. Sports Illustrated’s Bill Huber pointed out the guys he’s faced and what people have done against them.
By the way, in facing Mack, Hunter, Miller, Graham and now Lawrence, Bryan Bulaga has allowed exactly (grabbing calculator) … zero sacks.

People love to give Bulaga a hard time. I get it. Some people wanted him cut last season and wanted the 2019 NFL Draft to be the year they drafted his replacement. He had injury issues that have plagued his entire career. The right tackle missed a bunch of time in 2017 and missed all of the 2013 season. There is only one year where Bulaga was a full-time starter where he made it healthy for the entire season. That said when he’s out there, he is one of the best tackles in football. People want to point out the injuries, but in reality, he is one of the most valuable players on this Packers offense.
Fingers crossed that Bulaga stays healthy throughout the year. There will be other pass rushers throughout the season. Chicago and Minnesota loom on the schedule at the end of the year. Kansas City is on the radar in the next few weeks. Same for the Los Angeles Chargers who are known for their pass rush. If Bulaga continues to play like an All-Pro, Aaron Jones and Aaron Rodgers are going to succeed with protection from the right side.
