Bucks Buzz: Can’t Complete Comeback in Charlotte
Milwaukee Bucks found themselves in a similar situation on Monday night. They trailed by double digits throughout certain parts of the game. This is the sixth game in the last seven where the Bucks trailed by more than 10 points. This Milwaukee team is pretty good at making a comeback, but they could not finish it in Charlotte. Milwaukee falls 110-107 losing their second game in their last three. Bucks did a great job of pulling this thing close after trailing by 25 points in the second half, but they could not finish. The opportunities were there, they just didn’t finish the deal.
Player of the Game: Jeremy Lamb – For whatever reason, this guy kills the Bucks. Lamb seems to always find the secret sauce whenever playing Milwaukee. He had a good game for the Hornets going off for 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Hornets will love this kind of night from the former first-rounder. They’ve been trying to find that second scorer with Kemba Walker who is having an All-Star year, and maybe, Lamb is that guy.
Silver Star: Giannis Antetokounmpo – I didn’t think this was Giannis’ best night, but he had the biggest impact on the game especially the comeback. Giannis finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists. He nearly had a triple-double on an off night. To me, this type of games make you appreciate Antetokounmpo even more because he can have a shit night and still be a factor.
Positive: The return of Donte – Good to see Donte DiVincenzo back in the mix. Bucks did activate him before the game, but there was no sign that DiVincenzo would get to play in this one. It’s too bad Budenholzer made the call in the second half versus trying to get him out there in the second quarter. That’s when Milwaukee needed his energy the most.
Negative: Another big hole to climb out of – Bucks have to figure out how to not put themselves in these holes. I’m unsure if it’s the shooting or what. I do think one of the worst things that can happen to a three-point focused team is getting hot early on. Bucks were 8-of-12 to start the game. They only made eight threes the rest of the game. Milwaukee assumed that every three was going in instead of attacking the rim.
Highlight of the night: Shouts to Planet Pat!
Next up: Bucks return home for one game against Chicago on Wednesday night. It will be the last time Jabari Parker is in Milwaukee this season. Parker has been playing well for the Bulls of late. Chicago basically beat San Antonio before collapsing in the late game. Bulls have lost their last three games.
