Bucks Buzz: Milwaukee Clinches Home Court
Home court advantage matters in basketball just like it does any other spot. You want to be the best team in your conference to control the ability to start a playoff series at your gym and end it if the games go the distance. Milwaukee Bucks have home court throughout the playoffs. They will be the host team no matter what as they won their 59th game on Thursday versus Philadelphia. Bucks came back from being down five late and went on a crazy 12-1 run to finish the game. Bucks won their season series against every team in the Eastern Conference after last night’s win versus Philadelphia.
Player of the Game: Giannis Antetokounmpo – If you do not think he is the MVP of this league after last night’s game, you’re fucking crazy. He had an MVP performance in a huge situation going off for 45 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and five blocks. That’s a massive line from The Greek Freak. He continues to pound Philadelphia as they have no answer for him. Ben Simmons is too small. Embidd cannot keep up with him. And everyone else doesn’t work for Giannis. He’s that damn good.
Silver Star: George Hill – What a game from the gritty Bucks veteran. Eric Bledsoe got tossed in the first three minutes of the game which led to Hill getting more minutes than usual. He played really well especially down the stretch. Hill had seven straight points to start the Bucks late run. There is something to be said for veterans who have been here before in the playoffs. Hill can definitely win Milwaukee a playoff game.
Positive: Found a way without Bledsoe – Bucks came into this game fully loaded. They still didn’t have three of their potential role players that will be factors in the playoffs, but they had all their guys. Bledsoe gets tossed in the first three minutes of this game, and that sends the Bucks into a new mood. They figured it out without him though. Good games from Tim Frazier, Hill and Sterling Brown who all had to play big minutes for Milwaukee down the stretch.
Negative: How many threes can the Bucks give up? – This game was gross from the perspective of open shooters for Philadelphia. Mike Soctt and JJ Redick both killed Milwaukee yesterday. Way too many open looks. If these two teams meet in the playoffs, Milwaukee will need to do a better job of guarding the three-point line.
Highlight of the night: And I said… ‘Get the shot outta here, Joel.’

Next up: Bucks head home for a matinee against Brooklyn. It is likely we’ll see some players take the day off on Saturday. Who those players are is unknown to me. I bet Mike Budenholzer will make Eric Bledsoe play a good chuck on the game as punishment while his buddies sit on the bench. 60 wins would be nice but rather have the entire squad be healthy to start the second season.
