Bucks Buzz: Milwaukee Sends Statement to Detroit & NBA
I had dinner last night at my parents house. We do not typically have the television on when eating dinner, but they made an expection for the Bucks. My parents aren’t NBA fans by any means, but after watching the first half, my mom says ‘They’re really good, aren’t they?’ I said, ‘Yep one of the best.’ For the very causal fan who might have watched their first game of the year, this is the best case scenario. Milwaukee embarrassed Detroit with a dominating 121-86 victory. The lead rose to over 40 points in the third quarter as the Bucks imposed their will from the opening tip.
Player of the Game: Giannis Antetokounmpo – Even though he only played 24 minutes, we saw a good game from Giannis. He finished with 24 points, 17 rebounds and four assists. Giannis could have easily had 30 last night if he made his free throws. Without Blake Griffin, there was not a soul on Detroit who could guard Giannis. He did whatever he wanted to Detroit, and it was an amazing sight to see from the MVP.
Silver Star: George Hill – This is a strong game from Hill off the bench. He continues to be a strong bench player for the Bucks. Hill had 16 points in 23 minutes. He has become the leader of the bench mob for this team. While there are other contributors, Hill taken the reigns of the second unit. He is a crafty veteran who can score a bit, and that’s something Milwaukee lacked the last couple of seasons.
Positive: Any other worries or questions about this Bucks team? – You don’t want to overreact to one game, but how can you not with this team? Sure, there is no Griffin, but still, this performance was one of the best of the year. Milwaukee kicked their ass from the first quarter and then on basically for the reminder of the game. This Bucks team could have looked tight like their brothers in the north, but that did not happen. In fact, this team seemed so loose, you could have told me it is a random game in February.
Negative: Giannis can’t give up free points – Giannis Antetokounmpo will be going to the free throw line regularly in the postseason. He has to make more free throws. He cannot miss seven in a game. Those are free points, and Antetokounmpo needs improvement from the line. Hopefully, this is a blip in the radar for Giannis. He improved his free-throw shooting in February and March.
Highlight of the Night – Giannis nearly jumped from the free throw line if you want ridiculous.

Next up: Bucks stay home to face the Pistons on Wednesday night. Interesting to see what the crowd will be even more on fire, and if Detroit is going to try to bring Griffin back. We’ll see if he can play with that knee injury. If he cannot, it could get ugly again.
