Davante Adams might win Offensive Player of the Year this season. An award that has become basically the MVP for people that aren’t quarterbacks. It is between Adams or Travis Kelce. Kelce may win it as it is assumed Rodgers will take home the MVP. Devonta Smith of Alabama took home the Heisman. College Football’s MVP. He beat out two quarterbacks and became the first receiver to do it since Desmond Howard in 1991. It is not surprising that he has some fans. Add to the fact that he tore up Ohio State’s defense and the fans grew. One fan was Davante Adams of the Green Bay Packers who asked to be called ‘Devonta’ if they’re mispronouncing his name.

The fact that people still misspell Davante’s name is ridiculous. We live in a society with rules. You should know how to spell his name by now. It’s been over five fucking years. But there are still those who add an ‘e’ but maybe this time they will add an ‘a’.

The praise for Smith is warranted. He had a great college season, but there is a guarantee that he will be overdrafted. I get the lack of size at the college level, but in the pros, that can be an issue. Doesn’t this feel like a classic overreach pick by the Detroit Lions at seven? Get everyone hyped, people buying back into Detroit, they ignore the quarterback position again, everyone picks them to win 10 games only to have Detroit win six. Sounds about right to me.
