Derrick Rose to Bucks Is Summer Saga No One Wants
Derrick Rose is still a free agent when writing this at 7:50 am for a post time of noon or around noon. Rose and Bucks are sadly still courting each other this summer like two people on Tinder or Bumble. Maybe a date here, a flirty text there, but it’s not substantial enough to call it a relationship. Reports of a second meeting where going to happen this weekend, and that did not happen per reports. Although, Bucks coach Jason Kidd spoke about how he thought Rose is a solid player, and that’s about when Bucks fans lost their lunch.
We didn’t know where the Rose talk bubbled from, but it’s apparent Kidd is part of the driving force behind it. My guess is he got buddy Marc Lasry to join him, and that’s where the courting of Rose took place. It’s not surprising Kidd feels like he can fix the former MVP. Bucks head coach finds himself with a whiff of arrogance around point guards and making them into better players. Let’s not forget Kidd tried the same thing with Michael Carter-Williams and fell on his ass. Maybe he’s learned yet I wish the reclamation project didn’t involve Rose.
Am I on the #NeverRose bandwagon? Yes, probably, but I understand that my team will not always make moves for me, so I’ll get behind it a little bit if the deal makes sense. If Milwaukee ends up trading away John Henson and Mirza Teletovic for Rose plus Bucks only sign the problem child to a one-year deal with a team option for year two, I’m through the moon because that’s a great deal for Bucks. They clear some cap room and if Rose sucks ass which he will, they can cut him loose at any point without having dead money.
My guess is we’ll know the fate of Bucks and Rose by the end of this week. Summer League is wrapping up and the league itself will be taking a few off before training camp expects. Not to mention, Knicks made Steve Mills their General Manager over the weekend which will help if Milwaukee wants to finish the deal.
