Five Packers Questions To Ponder in 2019
The start of the National Football League always comes quickly like they’re part of the Pitino family. It happens every year with college football having five straight days of games than two days off then boom, football again. It comes even quicker when your team is playing on that Thursday night. Instead of making predictions like every other asshole in the state with a website or podcast, let’s ask ourselves some questions about the season and try to answer them.
What will be the outcome of Aaron Rodgers season? – That’s the 100 million dollar question. After two years of missing the playoffs and being deemed a coach killer, he needs a big season for national preception and some local. Rodgers is still one of the best to ever do it, but he could shut a lot of people up with a big year.
Does Davante Adams finally get some goddamn respect? – People have been leaving Adams off their top five wide receiver lists all summer. Yet he is either the first or second guy you’re drafting as a receiver in fantasy football… hmm. It is time for Adams to get his credit. I do believe if the Packers are a great team this year, the hype around Adams will grow immensely.
Will the Packers actually have a top ten defense? – There is a ton of hype about this defense. People haven’t felt this strongly about a Packers defense in forever. They have the talent all over the field from the front seven to the secondary. Obviously, the health will be a big factor, but the team should see improvements with Mike Pettine’s attacking-style defense. Considering Green Bay’s schedule early on, they may need to save this offense and provide short fields for this team to win football games.
Who will be the breakout player for this team? – There are many people that you could name for the Packers, whether it is offense or defense. I’m not going to take the easy way out and say Darnell Savage (He might be it btw). Tony Brown has been my guy from training camp and thinks he’s going to have a stellar season. He may push Kevin King out of the starter’s spot. As for the offense, Marquez Valdes-Scantling is an easy one but one that’s worth buying.
Can they get past their early schedule? – To me, this is the biggest question about this team. If they get past their first five games, it could set up very nicely for the. My expectation is 3-2 or 2-3 to start the year with a schedule featuring five of the toughest defenses in football to start the season. There are no easy games early on.
Go Pack Go. I cannot wait for the season to begin.
