Fun Fact: Some Raptors Fans Didn’t Want Kawhi Leonard
Toronto Raptors have won the NBA title. Yes, it’s good for them, and it’s good for the sport of basketball. Adding new teams to win titles especially one that was birthed in the mid-90s is a good thing unless they tear down their team every time they win a title (Shouts to the Florida Marlins!). But I do think it’s pretty fucking funny that Raptors fans on Twitter were so mad that Toronto traded for Kawhi Leonard for DeMar DeRozan. It’s hilarious to look back on these people who thought loyalty mattered in sports. Here are a few of my favorites.
This is an awful trade. Super bummed to be a Raptors fan right now.

Raptors fans acting like we made a huge mistake
Just checking, what have we WON with DeRozan?
We want a "loyal" front office that get punted in the 2nd round of the playoffs every year?
OR do we want to at least TRY to win now…or just ride out the DeRozan era with no banners?

I like the last one because the guy sounds like his name, a real Chad. These are all terrible takes looking back on it, and it shows you why you should not invest too much into players. On the old blog, a contributor Adam wrote about ‘cheering for laundry’, and how you don’t get too invested, because, they could leave at any time. It is hilarious to read these takes considering Leonard is a better player than DeRozan by a longshot, and he was when they traded for him in 2018. People get way too invested and end up sounding like an idiot.
Enjoy that title, though.
