Hauser Brothers Are Taking Over the Big East
Marquette Golden Eagles basketball team did something that hasn’t been done before in the Big East conference. Two brothers took the Big East honors for last week. Sam Hauser won Big East Player of the Week for his performances against Georgetown and Providence. His younger brother Joey Hauser won Freshman Big East Player of the Week, and that hasn’t happened ever in the Big East prior to this week. The attention both are getting is growing and growing throughout the conference season. Markus Howard is getting love, but the Hausers are getting some as well. It’s a great sight to see.
Sam is a joy to watch. He has been since his career began at Marquette. Steve Wojciechowski hasn’t had many players yet to leave a signature stamp on the program, but Hauser is one of those guys if his career ended today. One of those that gets part of a video tribute or visiting the university later in his life. Joey is well on his way to being the same type of player. There are years to go for Joey, but the moments are being etched every game.
This year for the Hauser brothers is aging like a beautiful wine. There were SO MANY haters who compared Sam Hauser to Wally Ellenson, even though, that was not anything further to the truth. Some thought Sam was a gateway to Joey who was a top tier player in the college recruiting world just like Henry Ellenson years ago. That isn’t the truth at all. It’s an entirely different situation. The only thing that is similar is their skin color and the part of Wisconsin where they grew up in. If you knew anything about the Ellenson’s, their family is one that is not one people remember fondly at Marquette.
Looking forward to more memories with the Hausers.
