If Giannis Gets 7 Fouls, Will He Be Unstoppable?

The NBA is likely coming back today. The board of governors meeting is today and from there, the NBA will submit the proposal to the players. From everything we hear, it seems like there is unity across the board. The NBA is trying to come up with new ideas that give teams like the Milwaukee Bucks an advantage in the playoffs. Since they do not have homecourt, the league wants to come up with an incentive for being the higher seed. One of the things suggested was designating a player on the team to get seven fouls versus six. That’s the advantage all Bucks fans should hope for because Giannis becomes Superman if that happens.

Giannis having the ability for seven fouls would be amazing. He would have the freedom to be even more aggressive on the court. Part of me would worry that Giannis might take a bit too far and still find himself in foul trouble. Yet it would be a glorious sight to see since NBA refs have zero ideas on how to officiate Giannis the basketball player.
Do I think the league goes forward with this? No, I do not. This is the type of thing that probably leads to an asterisk on your title and no one wants that. I could see the homecourt getting added to wherever they play in Orlando or giving the team possession to start each quarter. Those are little things that are not going to dramatically change the game. If you allow players like Giannis, LeBron James, and others to get seven fouls, that does change things dramatically. Further, I’ve planted my flag that these teams will be back home after round one.
This will likely not be the thing, but a kid can dream, right?
