J.J. Watt’s Wisconsin Summer Sounds Awesome

J.J. Watt and SnotapWI’s relationship is one that we do not mention much, but it is worth discussing when talking about Watt. For the longest time, I really did have issues with him. I thought he felt like a robot. A non-God like Tim Tebow character who cared more about his reputation than just being a human being. Since that time, things have changed with Watt and I loved what he did for Hurricane Harvey. That was one of the greatest sports-driven humanitarian efforts we’ve seen in our life time. He also loosen up a bit and started acting like a human which I respect. All of this being said, the Wisconsin summer that Watt will have this year sounds like a fun time.
In May, he will be giving the commencement speech at his alma mater, Wisconsin. Watt did not officially graduate which makes things funnier that he is doing the big speech, yet that’s an awesome get for the Class of 2019. Watt said to reporters yesterday that he will be winging it up there. He also mentioned on Pardon My Take that he knows these speeches drag on too long and become boring with the kids just itching to get to the bars to celebrate being done with school. Watt knows how to deliver a message, and I’m sure he will find a theme in there. I commend Watt for trying to do it on the fly because the way I run, there isn’t a chance in hell that would go well.

In August, the Wisconsin fun continues with the Houston Texans and Green Bay Packers holding joint practices at Lambeau Field. For Watt, this serves a dream. He explained to reporters who he went up to Lambeau Field to watch training camp like most other kids in Wisconsin. For a lot of us, myself included, it was our first real life exposure to the Green Bay Packers. Tickets were expensive and hard to come by, therefore, we had to rely on training camp. For any parent who might want Watt’s autograph for their kid, this feels like an opportune time to do it. Packers adopting the joint practices is pretty cool, and the fact they added the most prominent former Badger makes it more special.
Cool moment from @HoustonTexans presser today was hearing JJ Watt talk about going to Lambeau Field as a kid and the impact it had on him wanting to play football. Texans make the trip to Green Bay this preseason. pic.twitter.com/d23K0xsy6B
