JJ Watt Makes Shoes to Honor Pewaukee High School
Over the weekend, I attended a wedding with my Tosa friends. During the rehearsal dinner, my buddy Coach gave a speech then mentioned how I played against J.J. Watt in high school. That is true, and it’s a long story. I’ve told it way too many times that by this point I’m exhausted by it and makes me feel like Uncle Rico. Pewaukee joined our conference in my senior year which was also Watt’s final year. He was only 245 lbs and was ready to play tight end at Central Michigan. Watt is a far different player these days. He released new shoes that honor Pewaukee. Here’s what he said about his alma mater.
“Red, black and white are the colors of my high school team. A team I looked up to all throughout my childhood, a team I took immense pride in playing for and a team that I still have so many fond memories of,” Watt said in a press release. “There, I came up with the motto of ‘Dream Big Work Hard,’ and it’s something that I’ve lived by ever since.”
This is pretty cool even if I do not believe him when it comes to creating ‘Dream Big Work Hard’ in high school. The colorway is pretty standard with the black and red, so, I could imagine other people will likely get this outside of the state of Wisconsin. I’m not sure if I were in high school and played Pewaukee, I would not wear these yet that’s only a few people. I like that they’re bringing the old Reebok logo back. I don’t know who decided to make that choice, but it’s a good one.
