Marquette Wins a Whacky Overtime Thriller vs. Georgetown
After Saturday and a bad Monday, Marquette seemed to be out of my mind. I completely forgot they played on Monday. Now, the Golden Eagles haven’t played much on Mondays this season in Big East play, so, forgive me and I’ll be honest, Saturday took a lot of wind out of my sail. After watching part of it last night and the other part this morning, I would have been pulling my hair out like the rest of you as the Golden Eagles find a way to take down Georgetown in overtime, 00-86, to keep their hopes alive for a potential NCAA berth.
Sam Hauser is your best player, please know that
Not sure when Andrew Rowsey and Markus Howard are going to understand that Sam Hauser is the best player on the court. Sam is not a me first guy by any shape of the imagination, so, he doesn’t exactly demand the basketball, but he needs to do more of it. Hauser should have shot the ball upwards of 20 times last night, and the fact he only had 14 attempts is ridiculous. Marquette’s guards need to find him more often because he’s the catalyst to success for Marquette. I get they’re shoot-first guards, but at some point, you have to know another guy is rolling. Hauser is a star in the making, and I feel he will really shine next season. He’s poised to have a huge 2018-2019 season.
Wojo to die on Rowsey-Howard lineup hill
Even though Marquette played better without having both Andrew Rowsey and Markus Howard on the court together, Steve Wojciechowski insists to fuck that chicken. Both players got the start and nearly played the same amount of minutes with Rowsey getting an additional seven. It’s absurd for Wojo to continue this charade. It makes me wonder if he has a staff full of ‘yes men.’ Also, Wojo could be ignoring everything his coaches are telling him to do. Saturday will be the game where it should be the most telling.
Why the hell did Harry Froling see the bench?
Can someone explain to me why Marquette guled Harry Froling to the bench for two games? He came up with two massive threes in this game. Looking at Wojo’s postgame comments, it does appear that Froling might be a little more timid than he wants him to be, but regardless, Froling’s big size should be utilized at lest in one four minute burst. He provided some valued minutes out there for the team.
Senior Day at the Bradley Center and the final game at the BC versus Creighton. I guess it’s two-dollar beer day which should be a mess considering it’s the Shamrock Shuffle in the streets of Milwaukee. I mentioned this a second ago but worth bringing up here, we’ll really see how stubborn Marquette is about their lineup. The reason they beat Creighton two weeks ago was having one of the two players off the court, and the ability to play zone. We’ll see what Wojo ends up doing.
