Mirza Missing For Month Hurts Bucks Depth
Milwaukee Bucks received news that Mirza Teletovic will be out for the next month with knee surgery. This means the Bucks forward will not be back into the bench rotation until the end of this year or the beginning of 2018. Milwaukee’s depth is slowly becoming a real issue for the team. We saw it on Monday night when Milwaukee’s bench looked lifeless against Washington with a lack of scoring from their second unit. While Mirza doesn’t put up consistent points, he looks for shots at the very least. This is going to hurt Milwaukee from a depth perspective, and it’s probably worth considering finding an alternative.
I’m not sure who that person could be right now. The Bucks are using both two-way players, and I assume they’ll each see some action tonight with Gary Payton II getting into the game on Monday then Joel Bolomboy will likely see time with John Henson also being out tonight. But Milwaukee has to give a long look to James Young. I realize it’s the G-League, but he had back-to-back 40 point nights which is impressive at any level. Young is the type of player Milwaukee is missing on the bench. Instant offense who can somehow get your team an additional 15 points out of nowhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if Milwaukee looks that direction after Henson returns over the weekend.
Hate to be this guy, but it’s a big couple of games for the Bucks with two teams playing zero defense. They are get right spots for the team. If they don’t, it would be interesting to see fans react to the fact Mirza and Delly, two of the whipping boys of this team, may have been more important than anyone thought.
