NFL Reporter States Urlacher ‘Owned’ The Packers… Okay, Bud.

Some tweets make you want to get in the minds of these people. Usually, they are cancel-worthy tweets where you’re wondering ‘What the fuck did you think here?’ And sometimes, some people are just wrong. Take Dan Pompei (Great name) from The Athletic. He is a Big J. Dude has been around for three decades. He was working for a Chicago newspaper before doing what all journalists with long careers in newspapers do, go to The Athletic. I’m not going to judge his journalism chops. But I am going to judge his Twitter takes. He stated that ‘Brian Urlacher owned the Packers.’ As I said to him, in what fucking world? Here’s the take, it’s very bad.
Urlacher already owned the Packers. Now the Mets too? https://t.co/UXphEoW0Oq

Team wins are not a ‘thing’ for some people, but when you say ‘own’, it means something. They should be better than *checks notes* 9-18 against the opponent. That is not owning an opponent. Has Urlacher had big games against the Packers? Absolutely. But in a way, I expect that since he played for a rival for all these years. Of course, Urlacher stepped up a few times. The guy is a Hall of Famer. But Urlacher never owned the Packers unless he is a stockholder. Maybe that’s what Pompei meant? Regardless, it is an F- take there.
Also, I should note if Urlacher’s team beat the Packers in the 2010 NFC Championship Game, there would be more runway to say something like this. But he didn’t because Packers beat them at their own game, defense. People don’t forget!
Charlie.
