Of Course, the Knicks Want To Hire Jason Kidd to Lure Giannis

New York Knicks are out of the playoffs. But the Knicks are trying to rebuild their franchise once again. They’re looking for a new head coach after hiring Leon Rose, an NBA power broker to run the team. Rumors swirled about a few guys, but it seems the latest news is Jason Kidd. The Los Angeles Lakers’ assistant is a favorite. Knicks owner James Dolan liked his time with Kidd when the Hall of Fame point guard played for New York. By bringing Kidd back to The Big Apple, the hope would be Giannis Antetokounmpo comes with him. Hold on… I need to take a few minutes and laugh.
Sources close to Kidd have said that he would have interest in this job (he played for Dolan and Knicks in last successful season for NY) – and some teams interested in Kidd think that he could provide a link to the prize of next year's free agent class, Giannis. https://t.co/dlaYw7Oa1m

Kidd is not going to deliver Antetokounmpo. Trust me when I say he will tell everyone with the Knicks that this is possible. Giannis and Kidd’s relationship being ones like Phil and Michael or Bill and Red is a complete fabrication. I’ll have more on The Daily Tap, our podcast today about this very topic. But after the myth of the relationship is gone, you also have the fact that Knicks are a goddamn mess. What part of the Knicks making them alluring to any free agent? The roster is combined with a few young talents and a bunch of overpaid power forwards.
Is it possible that Kidd might learn from mistakes and be a good coach at this next job? Yes, of course. Doc Rivers did not have a great run in Orlando before winning a championship with Boston and providing the Clippers stability for the first time in their franchise history. But do I think Kidd is too stubborn and pigheaded to right his wrongs as a coach? Abso-fucking-lutely. He always wanted to be about him and not about his players. The guy fashioned himself as a great coach despite not winning a damn thing. The only person that should be excited if Kidd comes to New York is Frank Ntilikina.
Kidd being back as a head coach is fun for us all so let’s hope it happens.
Charlie.
