Packers Coming After Marty B’s Signing Bonus Cash
Green Bay Packers are ready to go to war with their former player, Martellus Bennett. According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Packers filed a claim to get back some of signing bonus money due to not designating an injury. This will be messy for the Packers, but when it comes to money, you want to get that back. Bennett is now injured reserve with a hamstring injury after playing two games for the New England Patriots. This reeks of a fraud move by a fraud human being. I hope Green Bay gets every single cent.
Let’s take a look at how perfect this is for Bennett… He decided to nearly retire from the league during the bye week then all of the drama happened with Pat McKenzie. He re-signs with the New England Patriots to play two games then comes up with another injury. Did Bennett go on injured reserve with knowledge the Packers were probably coming after his signing bonus? You kind of get that feeling. I hate to play conspiracy theorist, but when you act like a bullshitter, you get treated this way.
This shouldn’t affect Green Bay’s ability to sign free agents. Some worried about that when Bennett was first let go, and now, there’s enough for people to go off to realize Bennett is the crazy one. Packers aren’t going to go after everyone’s signing bonus when things get rough. This is a special case with a special kind of asshole.
