Packers Continue Weekend Spending & Ink Linsley
Green Bay Packers keep spending money over the holiday weekend. Corey Linsley is the latest player to get a deal from the team. Green Bay gave him three years 25 million dollars this morning. That’s a good move by the Packers as he could be seen in high regard with other teams in the National Football League. Offensive linemen are at a premium in this league, and Linsley is one of the best interior lineman in the game. Once again, Ted Thompson deserves some credit for shrewd business move before the end of the year setting up Green Bay nicely in the coming months.
I don’t know if people have a take on Linsley, either positively or negatively, but he should be seen in high regard from the fans. The best thing you can say about an offensive lineman is nothing at all. Linsley does his job, and Green Bay is better when he’s controlling the middle of the offensive line. Green Bay is solid from the left side with David Bakhtiari, Lane Taylor and Linsley. We’ll see what happens with Jahari Evans. He’ll likely get more from a one year deal from someone else. Green Bay does have an out with Bryan Bulaga in 2018, and it would not shock me if they used it here.
Thompson took care of the two biggest question marks heading into the offseason. Davante Adams and Linsley. They’re both signed and now, you wonder if Aaron Rodgers will be the next fish to fry. There are good odds that Green Bay looks at trying to give more money to their star quarterback. Matt Stafford is at 25 million dollars a year, and my guess is Green Bay will try to up the ante to 26 or 27 million. The Rodgers storyline is going to be one that the national and local media bang to death in the next three months, but I don’t know how big of a deal it is to the team at this point.
Even though this season ended in a way that no one wanted for the Packers, it’s nice to see they can make a deal happen like this one.
