Packers Draft Better Than Any Team in the NFL

Green Bay Packers built a reputation on the NFL Draft. Through the years, Green Bay built through the draft. It is a phrase you heard all the time during the years of Ted Thompson. The thought still holds true with Brian Gutekunst, although, Gutekunst is more likely to bring in free agents to help the team. Even the smaller adds this year would have been something that Thompson likely wouldn’t do. It is no surprise then to find Green Bay is the top team in terms of drafting success for the entire NFL.

What is ‘Approximate value’ as a metric? Glad you asked, it’s a metric highlighting what a team can get from a bang for your buck perspective. Green Bay has gotten the most out of players in the last 19 years. It goes back farther than just Thompson and Gutekunst adding what Mike Sherman did in the draft as well, even though Sherman had some missteps. It is not surprising to see some of the historically great teams at the top of the list with Green Bay, New England, Seattle, Baltimore all at the top of the list.
If this doesn’t make you excited for what the Packers can do in this year’s draft, I don’t know what will.
Charlie.
