Packers Offensive Tackle Injuries Plague Team

Every year, we see Green Bay’s team end up being hurt in some capacity. I think this is more of a football thing then a Packers thing, even if others believe the contrary. Every year, it seems like one spot on the field has more injuries than the others, and the Packers become exposed as a team due to it. Last year, it was the secondary, and this year, it’s the offensive tackle position. It’s a mess with five tackles potentially being out for Chicago’s game. Can Ted Thompson stop the bleeding or is it too late?
With it being a short week, Thompson can unlikely bring in an experienced tackle to help out the team. They can’t learn everything they need to this quickly. But if Green Bay continues to have injuries up there, you’ll see a move made by the Packers front office. They cannot keep this up and expect Aaron Rodgers to stay healthy. Dallas, their opponent in two weeks, looked like monsters up front led by DeMarcus Lawrence. Although, this isn’t really Thompson’s fault that Green Bay is so light at the position.
They were prepared for injuries when training camp began with Jason Spriggs, Don Barclay and Kyle Murphy all there to help out the tackle position. Spriggs and Barclay went down with significant injuries leading them to getting put on Injured Reserve. If the team had those guys, it’s still a bleak situation as both players are backups for a reason, but you rest a little easier heading into the game against Chicago.
If Green Bay could somehow get David Bakhtiari back in action, that would be a massive lift for this team. Packers gave an injury report despite not practicing where it guessed what people’s participation would be given their injuries, and it listed Bakhtiari with limited participation.
Green Bay offense could be in for a very long day if the tackles are missing yet again.
