SnotapWI’s Packers Preview: Green Bay vs. Washington
Green Bay Packers have their first road game of the season. Packers are traveling to Washington DC for the third time in the last few years. Packers played the Redskins in the playoffs where they were victorious then they dropped a Sunday Night game the year after at FedEx Field. This is a different look team than those a couple years ago. Gone is Kirk Cousins whom the Packers saw last week. Adrian Peterson is now a member of the team. They have a talented, young receiving core and front line. Green Bay will be in for a challenge on Sunday.
The Jimmy Graham breakout game – We saw a good game from Jimmy Graham last week. The chance for a great game exists on Sunday. Redskins have been soft versus tight ends to start the year, and a problem that seems to be continuing from last season. Graham could go off in this game. I wouldn’t be surprised if he heads over 100 yards with a touchdown. Green Bay knows how to exploit weaknesses, and this is an obvious one for the Packers. Look for Graham to get the ball more often than not on Sunday.
Slowing down Chris Thompson – The key to Washington’s offense is Chris Thompson. The scatback is the star of the passing game. He’s a perfect fit for new quarterback Alex Smith. Thompson will get a bulk of pass plays and is not the easy running back to bring down. He’s very slippery and fast, so, the Packers need to do all they can to contain him on Sunday. It’s a tall task for Josh Jones and Oren Burks who will likely be assigned in their first game action of the season.
Will we see Davante Adams on Josh Norman? – One of the critiques people will always have on Josh Norman is he stays on one side of the field. He’s always on the left and teams can put their number one different spots. That said, Davante Adams doesn’t give a shit about who is one the other side. I’d like to see him challenge Norman a couple times and Aaron Rodgers go to him.
Prediction: I have the Packers winning this one, 31-21. At first, I thought this would be a two-score outcome then realized I should probably reign it back a bit. Packers have no issues with Washington and keep the loss column at 0.
