Rams Bring Their Top-Ranked Defense To Lambeau For a Fascinating Showdown
Green Bay Packers know their opponent for Saturday afternoon. It will be the Los Angeles Rams. After the Rams pulled off one of the three ‘upsets’ this weekend, they will be the lowest seed left in the final four in the NFC. Rams and Packers will meet in one of the more football-focused games of the weekend. There are great matchups all over the place. A few storylines too. This should be a fun football game as Green Bay looks to return to the NFC Championship Game for the second straight year.
The game itself oozes big-time matchups. At the highest level, you have the top-ranked scoring offense against the top-ranked scoring defense. Inside that, there are great matchups all over the place. Jalen Ramsey versus Davante Adams is a heavyweight fight. The same goes for Aaron Donald against Elgton Jenkins and Corey Linsley. Za’Darius Smith versus Andrew Whitworth is a fun one. As well as Matt LaFleur’s offense against the emerging defense of Brendan Staley’s. You might hear too that Sean McVay and LaFleur are friends. This is the first matchup for these two coaches.
One of the big storylines heading into this game will be the cold. Jared Goff has not won a game in cold weather. Los Angeles is not used to the Frozen Tundra, and while temperatures don’t promise to be wicked, it’s still a different element out there. I’m sure there will be some Goff, Aaron Rodgers thing because they both went to the University of California. It will be interesting to see what ends up winning the headline grab by the end of the week.
This will be the first playoff matchup between the Packers-Rams since 2002. In that game, the Packers were blown out because Brett Favre couldn’t stop throwing interceptions. He threw six and two were taken back for touchdowns. Packers-Rams also met in 1967. In that game, the Packers won 28-7 right before Christmas at Milwaukee County Stadium. Next week would be the Ice Bowl.
Excited to see the Packers in action again.
