Rodgers-Cobb Emotional Hug Was Sunday’s Only Memorable Moment
Football is a team sport. That’s obvious to anyone who has played or watched the game. People forget that watching professional athletes. They do not know about the relationships forged over the years on the field and off the field. The Packers photographer Evan Siegle caught a great picture of Randall Cobb and Aaron Rodgers sharing an emotional hug together before the game. Cobb is a free agent after this season and with a disappointing 2018 season, Rodgers-Cobb both know that this could be the end of a journey for both players. It was an awesome moment.

Part of me thinks of this picture reminds me of the parts of Jeff Pearlman’s outstanding book on Brett Favre. Pearlman notes about how Favre realizes he’s the old guy and there’s no one around that are part of his clique anymore. For Rodgers, that realization started with the Jordy Nelson departure, and it’s continuing on with Cobb likely out in Green Bay. You knew know though. He could return on a small deal, and I do think they need one additional veteran receiver along with the young guys. Yet they have to pick out the perfect guy to fit with Rodgers and the new coach. That might not be Cobb.
If it is the last game for Cobb, I’ll always remember leaping from my chair at my parents and running around my first floor when the 4th and 7 was completed.
