Sam Dekker Enforces A ‘No Duke Law’ To Kobe King
Confession time – Sam Dekker is a fun follow on Twitter even though I’m not a Badger fan and don’t pretend to be anywhere close to one. He admitted to me once that Marquette had much better uniforms than Wisconsin as well. Although, I found it super weird he cared that Kobe King, one of the prominent Wisconsin freshman, wore a Duke jersey on Wisconsin’s campus. Couple things to unpack here – Why does Dekker care what an incoming freshman does? And who is he to tell King what to wear?
Hey @KingKobe27 don't ever wear a Duke jersey on UW's campus again..

I get the whole thing about Duke being a technical rival of Wisconsin because they lost a National Championship that many Wisconsin fans think the refs stole from them. That will be a belief passed down from generation to generation until Wisconsin wins one. That said, the kids who are there now might not care as much about Blue Devils. It would have been odd if King rocked a Michigan or Indiana jersey on campus, but a Duke one is truly a non-issue. Odds are King rocked a Kyrie or Grant Hill throwback, and that’s throwback jerseys are still a very popular item to wear out for young adults.
This tweet from Dekker received attention from Badgers faithful with most of them championing his move primarily due to the Duke thing. That said, there’s no need for him to tell the young kid how to live his life and air him out on Twitter. If anything, seek out an assistant coach and tell him that it’s bullshit one of our guys is wearing Duke stuff if it bothers you this much. Then the coach can explain to King to probably not wear other teams’ gear given the nature of their fanbase.
Glad to know that Dekker is patrolling the Internet streets looking for Duke gear on Wisconsin players.
