Sister Jean Slander Will Not Be Tolerated
Sister Jean is the star of the NCAA Tournament. She’s incredible. It’s a story out of Disney with a Cinderella team makes a run, and its team chaplain, Sister Jean, sees it all the way. She’s captivated the hearts of so many due her great spirit and quick wit. That said, we cannot have the Internet turn on her. We see this way too much when someone gets overexposed, people try to limit their voice and talk shit about the person in question. Maybe just once we can have a little compassion for the person whose went viral. Here’s the thing, she’s 98 years old. She looks spry, but who knows how many moments like this she has in her life. This is a once-in–a-lifetime thing for her, and Sister Jean is treating it like one.
Part of the reason why people are turning on her is she’s being talked about more than Loyola, the basketball team. To me, there’s a place for both to get along in harmony. Is Loyola more than Sister Jean? Yes, we’ve seen that shitty headline all over the place. Sports should be fun, and we can have both. Our brains are big enough for both thoughts, trust me. These guys are fantastic and play a very advanced style of basketball. It’s a joy to watch them which holds true if Sister Jean was not in the picture.
Go Loyola, keep writing another chapter in the storybook that’s started two weeks ago.
