SnoTap Packers Preview: Green Bay vs. Atlanta
Green Bay heads to Atlanta, Georgia for the third time in less than a calendar year. Packers are hoping that third time is a charm after losing two straight against the Falcons last year. In the regular season, the two teams played an absolute classic that went down to the wire, and the NFC Championship saw Atlanta blow the doors off Green Bay. There will be some revenge in mind, and with Aaron Rodgers determination to play at home in the NFC Championship, Packers will look to go 2-0 against two of the NFC’s best.

Ty Montgomery’s night to shine – While Rodgers’ revenge will be a major storyline for NBC, it could be Ty Montgomery that steals the show on Sunday night. He faces an Atlanta run defense that is not good whatsoever. Chicago Bears rookie Tarik Cohen became an overnight star thanks to the poor Falcons run defense. They could not stop Cohen from catching the ball either. This bodes well for Montgomery who played a ton of snaps last Sunday. He should reel off a monster game from an all-purpose perspective.
Can the secondary hold up against Julio Jones and company? – This week, the Packers released Ladarius Gunter. Last year, Gunter faced off against Julio Jones in the NFC Championship Game, and it did not work out as Jones torched the team for 210 yards on eight catches with two scores. Packers will show a different look in that secondary with Davon House, Quinten Rollins and Damarious Randall leading the charge. Don’t be surprised if Atlanta takes a shot or two with Taylor Gabriel. Seattle nearly had six on a Russell Wilson bomb to Tyler Lockett. I wouldn’t be shocked if the Falcons try the same thing.
Are we making too big of a deal regarding Bakhtiari’s injury? – Maybe I’m being too much of a #FootballGuy, but I really think the media are acting like the two Packers tackles are guaranteed to not play on Sunday. We don’t know about Bryan Bulaga, and it sounds unlikely he’ll play. As for David Bakhtiari, he’s been limited in practice thus far, but there’s no real worrisome signs he’ll miss Sunday. Let’s see what today brings and where Green Bay puts him on the injury report. If he’s doubtful, feel free to freak out.
I’m taking Green Bay in this game. I feel like the defense will force Matt Ryan into some bad throws which will give Rodgers the short field more times than not. Like I said above, Montgomery will be the difference maker here. This will be the Falcons first real look at him. It’s going to be a fight to the finish though. GB 34-32
