SnoTapWI Packers Preview: Seattle vs. Green Bay
Green Bay Packers add another chapter with the Seattle Seahawks when the game gets kicks off at 5:40 pm. Packers had a week off to hear everyone outside of the state of Wisconsin tell them they’re not that good. People ragged on the Packers for being frauds and not being real. Believe me when I say that they’ve heard the hate around their team this year. This is a classic ‘Nobody believes in us’ team. Packers are going to be ready in Lambeau with snow all around the stadium. It should be an awesome atmosphere.
THREE STORYLINES TO WATCH
1. Packers pass rush vs. Russell Wilson – I love this matchup. Za’Darus Smith and Preston Smith taking on Russell Wilson. Seattle’s offensive line has been a mess for years, and things were a bit better this year. Yet things have gotten worse when Seattle lost their center and left tackle. Now, Duane Brown, their left tackle, could come back from his injury. Kenny Clark could eat in the middle like Fletcher Cox did last week. Wilson is going to have issues dealing with the Smith Bros plus Clark. Za’Darius can wreck this game like he did the Minnesota game a few weeks ago.
2. Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams might have a day – Seattle’s rushing DVOA is 26th out of 32. They’re not very good against the run. Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams are going to have a day against Seattle. Consider the fact that Seattle has no running game means that Green Bay will have an opportunity for ball control with Jones and Williams. Jones has been the best offensive player for the Packers this season, and this could be a breakout game for him to get everyone’s attention.
3. Matt LaFleur’s first playoff game – This is something that concerns me about this game. I feel pretty good honestly about this game overall. But the one worry is Matt LaFleur’s first playoff game. There is a great deal of pressure there. I hope that he doesn’t get tight and keep coaching like it is any other game. If this game gets tight late, Seattle has a definite coaching advantage which could be concerning.
SnoTapWI Predicted Player of the Game
Aaron Jones – The two players mentioned above I think will have some big-time games. Jones and Za’Darius Smith. With the cold weather, Jones is a huge aspect of winning the game. He has been excellent all season, and as I said, I feel this will be a huge moment for him. Jones is a dynamic back and will show he’s one of the best backs left in the playoffs.
I have the Packers in this game by 10 to 14 points. Lambeau Field is one of the last true home field advantages in the National Football League. Green Bay was 7-1 there this season. They’re 18-5 in playoff games at Lambeau Field. We didn’t discuss it, but Wilson has been terrible at Lambeau for his career. Will he fix his woes? The only way where things could get testy for Green Bay is if Seattle reserves course and starts quickly for once.
