SnoTapWI Star Ratings: Packers-49ers
This is a classic, ‘Do I have to write this?’ There are not good Star Ratings. to have this week with how poorly the Packers played this week. They were embarrassed, outclassed and did not look like they belonged on the field against San Francisco. This is a tough one, but I do think they’re going to get off the mat and be alright in the next few weeks. Let’s discuss what happened in this game then never talk about it again after Mitch and I do Tapping The Keg tonight. Let’s figure out a way around this though. There are multiple three stars, two stars, and one star tonight. No real five or four stars from the Packers this week.
Packers pass rush – You want some encouragement, I’ll give you that. The pass rush was good. That’s about all you can say about the Packers that went well. Both Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith got off the ball quickly off the edge. Za’Darius played the best probably out of any Packers player on Sunday afternoon. That’s not saying much.
Kevin King – Man, it has been a tough year for Kevin King. He is an average to slightly above average cornerback. Packers Twitter hates him which fine, whatever, but he gets more action to his side because of Jaire Alexander’s lockdown defense. King should think about ways to adjust and make things difficult on the offense.
Vikings tied for first place – The reason this isn’t a one star is due to the Packers having the advantage over the Vikings with the NFC North as they beat them in Week 2. The Seahawks-Vikings Monday night game looms large. Thankfully, it’s in Seattle, not Minnesota. It will likely be gross weather conditions and Seahawks need to keep pace with San Francisco.
Matt LaFleur’s game plan – He got spanked last night. There is not much to like about what LaFleur did on Sunday. I mentioned it on the podcast, but he went to basic ass offense that didn’t show much creativity. The idea of playing against his buddies, Shanahan and Saleh go majorly in his head. Hopefully, this is a one-time thing and doesn’t become like Henry Winkler in The Waterboy.
Geronimo Allison – Man, G-Mo just sucks. I wish I wrote something in August that I discussed with some friends. When Allen Lazard and Jake Kumerow were starting to cook in August, I talked to some buddies about releasing Allison. They decided to move on from Trevor Davis instead of dealing with Allison. That was likely the wrong move by the Packers. He doesn’t belong on the field right now.
JK Scott – I don’t know what happened with JK Scott, but he needs to figure his shit out. Part of the reason why Green Bay gave up 23 points in the first half was due to Scott’s two 30 yard first-half punts. Those were gross. Scott needs to wake up a little bit.
