Star Ratings: Green Bay-Washington
Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay’s quarterback did have himself a game amid the bad play of his defense. Rodgers must know how Drew Brees feels on weekly basis with this poor defense. He did everything he could to win this football game, but the defense couldn’t keep up. Rodgers finished with 351 yards with three touchdowns and a passer rating of 115. Rodgers will get remembered for having a great month even with all of the losing.
David Bakhtiari – People didn’t know if David Bakhtiari would play on Sunday, and he did with great success. Bakhtiari handled his own on the outside and kept Rodgers blindside protected for the most part. He deserves a ton of credit for handling himself with a knee injury. The Packers left tackle is one of the tougher guys on the team.
Jason Spriggs – To come into the game in the second half playing a position you’re unfamiliar with, Jason Spriggs did a great job at right tackle. He handled himself in the pass game, and there were a few issues in the running game. He’s going to have a future with this team. I’m curious to know if Green Bay thinks Spriggs will find a place at guard next season.
Mike Daniels – The grumpy bear did the damn thing today in the middle. Daniels made a couple big stops when Green Bay needed them. He’s been really great for the team and is one of the few players who could be a Pro Bowler. Daniels did have a bad personal foul penalty, but that was the refs protecting quarterbacks more than anything else.
Jared Cook – Man, Jared Cook would have been a five star player this week if it had not been for the fumble. Cook had a brutal fumble as Green Bay tried to mount a comeback. Cook showed what kind of impact a pass-catching tight end can have for this team. The former Titan and Ram caught six passes for 105 yards with a touchdown. This was his first touchdown since December 2014. Cook is a firecracker to this offense.
Blake Martinez – Without Jake Ryan there, it’s clear to see Blake Martinez does whatever the fuck he wants out there. Martinez has no real sign of direction or where’s going with run and pass. He’s a bit of a wildcard. Now, I don’t hate a loose cannon, but he’s a bit out of control for my liking tonight. The third and three penalty was not a good one.
Dom Capers – It’s probably time for Green Bay to say goodbye to Dom Capers. The defense gave up over 140 points in four games. They gave up 40 points plus in the last two. Capers should go the Norv Turner and resign from his position this week. Green Bay will probably be stubborn and not allow change like this to happen until the end of the year. Capers keeps getting beat deep, and while that’s somewhat of a talent issue, a good coordinator fixes the problem.
Don Barclay – Why does he have a roster spot? Barclay is on his third contract and does nothing right for the team. Once again, he saw a starting opportunity go by the wayside thanks to Spriggs. I have a feeling he will only be used in spot roles for the remainder of the year.
Ladarius Gunter – Remember when we all got excited about what Gunter did versus Atlanta then he’s looked like complete ass for the next three weeks. He’s too slow to guard today’s corners. Gunter clearly has an issue with the deep ball. He hasn’t been able to stop it all year and gets burned at least once a game. It’s truly sad.
Jeff Janis – Not sure why Janis holds a roster spot at this point. He can cover punts and do nothing else.
