The Summer Of Giannis: 2nd Team Is Just The Start

If you’re a Seinfeld fan, you recall ‘The Summer of George.’ And if you have a single friend who may be on a hot streak getting laid, you might tell them ‘The Summer of person x.’ Well, the summer of Giannis has nothing to do with the Greek Freak getting well.. uh you know freaky, rather, the beginning of him being an international NBA superstar where he’s beloved in the City of Milwaukee and all over the world.
Some might say it’s an honor, and it won’t change much yet it totally does. He’s on the same playing field as Steph Curry, Kevin Durant and Isaiah Thomas. The first two guys there are jerseys of them when Bucks play Golden State. That’s going to decrease. Just like all of Bulls fans who used to fill the arena, not happening. Like it or not, most cities are bandwagoners especially kids, and there’s going to be an ‘all-in’ sense from the base with Giannis.
No matter the team makeup next year, Bucks fans are going to expect Giannis and his teammates to be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. That’s probably too high of an expectation, but it’s going to happen from the bandwagon fanhood. Giannis is also going to get an endorsement deal at some point. How the hell Chobani or Oiknos hasn’t come knocking on his door is a grave fucking error. If I’m their marketing manager, I’m pounding down the door to get a Giannis sponsorship.
If anyone can handle this kind of fame, it’s Giannis. This isn’t like Gordon Bombay heading to Los Angeles thinking he’s hot shit all of the sudden. That’s not Antetokounmpo. He’s seemingly above that. Bucks are in a perfect spot with him, and it’s so exciting to see what comes next.
Charlie.
