That’s Cute, the Dallas Mavericks Want Giannis Antetokounmpo
I expect to write this blog 100 times in the next 18 months unless Giannis Antetokounmpo signs a SuperMax. ‘x team is interested in Giannis’ per Brian Windhorst, Shams Charnia, and countless other NBA reporters. The latest team to join that conversation is the Dallas Mavericks. Windhorst said on a podcast that the Dallas will do whatever it takes to get Antetokounmpo to Dallas and pair him up with Luka Doncic. They will create this international super team and be gods in the process. Again, this is all great in theory if Giannis, you know, wanted to leave the Milwaukee Bucks.
According to @WindhorstESPN, he believes the Dallas Mavericks will be “at the front of the line” in an attempt to pursue Giannis in free agency.

First of all, what in Giannis’ DNA makes Dallas think that he is going to be a secondary player to Luka? There is a 0.0 percent chance of that happening. Per the reports earlier this offseason, Giannis is heistant on adding a guy like Chris Paul for this very reason. Antetokounmpo wants to be the man, and for good reason. Non-Bucks fans might think he is Scottie Pippen because of that dumb fucking thing Richard Jefferson said, but he’s not. He won the MVP twice and won the Defesnive Player of the Year. Second, are we sure Giannis and Luka like each other? I definitely haven’t got that vibe from either of those guys.
As I said this will continue to be a story for months to come. It will be annoying, but know that there is typically a way to shoot the story down from becoming anything tangible. The Giannis pursuit feels like the line in the iconic song by Nelly Frutado, ‘Promiscuoous,’ “I want you on my team, so does everybody else.” We will continue to play this game until he re-signs with the Bucks, though!
