The Sports TV Schedule in August Is March Madness-Esque

We are gearing up towards what is possibly going to be the biggest sports month of recent memory. We typically have a few months out of the calendar where everything is rolling. But this feels different. Part of it is due to NBA and NHL wrapping up their season. The other part of it is due to the starvation of sports. Even though golf, NASCAR, UFC, European soccer has held fans’ interest, what will be available to us in August will almost be like watching the first day of March Madness.
The news about how hockey will be set up inspired me to write this blog post. That is weird since we do not do much hockey. But it appears the NHL is gearing up to have games start at 11 am CST and end at 9 PM CST. Add in the fact, the NBA will have games from 12:30 pm to 9:30 pm as well through the first two weeks of August. Despite that seeming like sports overload, there will also be the Champions League kicking off in early August too. All of this will be going on when baseball is playing out their season, and golf is humming along with a major, the PGA Championship, the first weekend of August.
My advice to you would be to find a day off or two where things make sense to do it. Bucks have only one early game at 12:30p and it’s on a Tuesday so might not be worth it. But there will be a day where you can sit on your couch from 11 am to 11 pm watching sporting events in August. The other advice I have is to start gearing your significant other to the idea that sports are coming. Whether your girlfriend or boyfriend who got comfortable without sports, it is probably time to let them know you’re going to be out of commission all August.
If you’re having a shitty day, remember we’re only a few weeks away from this.
