Milwaukee Bucks did not start off their road trip the right way. They were crushed by the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night. Milwaukee stayed in Los Angeles for two additional nights as they played the Lakers on Wednesday evening. At first, Milwaukee looked like a team who spent the last two days partying (Obviously not possible in COVID times), but then the Bucks figured it out. They went on a run to end the first half and that run never stopped. Milwaukee won last night, 112-97. Here are the three biggest takeaways from this game.

1. Jrue Holiday has the sauce – You know the iPhone commercial ‘Who’s got the Sauce?’ We should assign that to Jrue Holiday. Dude was on fire last night. Holiday finished with 26 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Holiday went 11/16 from the field as well. He played great and was the catalyst for Milwaukee’s initial run. We’ve seen a few games like this with Holiday, and when we do, it feels like he should be doing this more often. Interested to see if Mike Budenholzer takes anything from this game.

2. Milwaukee’s three-point defense went into lockdown mode – Bucks gave up eight threes in the first quarter. After that, Los Angeles scored two. Los Angeles started the game 8/12, and they ended the game going 2/24. That’s incredible. Milwaukee’s three-point defense is always a concern, but for them to tighten things up like that is hopefully a sign of good things to come. They were too aggressive early on and it led to open looks. Once Milwaukee settled in, their defense was difficult to deal with.

3. Giannis had a rough turnover game – Not the best night at the office for Giannis Antetokounmpo. Sure, he had 25 and 10, but he also had nine turnovers. That’s not going to get it done. Not sure if Antetokounmpo felt some nerves playing with his brother with his other brother watching. Or if it was an off night. Regardless, Giannis needs to clean that up a little bit moving forward. It’s weird when he’s sloppy, I feel the whole team is sloppy.

Next up: Milwaukee gets set to play the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night. The Bucks buried the Blazers earlier this season and will try to do it again. Milwaukee has won three of their last four against Portland. It’s a bad matchup for Portland, especially with Antetokounmpo.
