Travis Shaw’s Agent Throws Shade at Brewers
Milwaukee Brewers decided non-tender Travis Shaw on Monday evening. Brewers tried to work out a deal with Shaw and his agent yet they could not get it done. Milwaukee did not want to pick up the price tag when it came to Shaw’s 4.6 million dollar tender. This makes sense when you look at Shaw’s 2019 where he only hit .157 and looked completely lost at the plate. Part of me thought the Brewers would non-tender him then they try to bring him back at a lesser amount. It does not seem like that will be the case per the comments from Shaw’s agent who ripped the team.
Travis Shaw’s agent, Joe Bick, texted me this statement regarding Shaw, now a free agent: “If Travis can be in a spot where a team just trusts and believes in him, they’ll get tremendous results.” @MLBNetwork @MLB

This is disappointing to hear from Shaw’s agent. That comment feels like the Brewers and Shaw will not be reuniting. Joe Bick makes it loud and clear that Shaw did not like how the Brewers handled him last season. Part of me wonders if bringing back Mike Moustakas in 2019 screwed him a little bit. I do think Milwaukee gave him every opportunity to be successful in 2019. And he could not fix his swing. Another team will likely pick up Shaw and hope for a huge bounce-back year. It is possible.
Agents can sometimes not exactly be what the players are saying to them. I would welcome Shaw back to the Brewers especially with Mike Moustakas, and if that’s the case, the agent needs to learn how to better use the media to his advantage versus sounding like a petulant little child.
Hope Shaw gets what he wants in the 2020 season.
