We Are No Longer Allowed to Call Giannis, ‘MVP’
Giannis Antetokounmpo hosted a party at the Deer District to celebrate him winning the MVP. That sounds very self-centered and unlike Giannis. That’s true. He did not actually host it, rather, it was Nike who put on the event. Nike continues to parade Giannis all over the world and promote the hell out of his Zoom Freaks. While the shoes were on display, this was about him being the MVP. But that’s something Giannis doesn’t want people to call him anymore. Yesterday was the last day to call Giannis’ ‘MVP’ and if you missed out on it, too bad.
Antetokounmpo requested fans not call him MVP after today until he wins it again next year.

I’m unsure what is going to happen when he goes to the free throw line next year, but that’s a problem to worry about in October, not July. Personally, I think it’s fucking weird when MVP chants are started before Christmas time. Like settle down, we’re only a quarter or less through the season. Giannis seems ready for the next season to start in a few weeks, not a few months. Antetokounmpo talked about how the MVP trophy had to do with as much about his teammates as it did with him. And how he wants to bring home the ‘big trophy’ next year. Which I’ve said if the City of Milwaukee gets its own championship, things will go absolutely crazy here.
