Welcome to Summerfest SZN in Milwaukee
Some people believe these next eleven days are the best eleven days of the year. Summerfest begins their 51st season later this afternoon, and the festival weirdly gets the best weather of the year in Wisconsin. It is weird how that works because many people in the City of Milwaukee considering the start of summer to be Summerfest. Now, I do think there are some who think Summerfest is overrated, and that’s a fair take. But there is something fun about these eleven days that cannot be compared to the rest of the year.
Personally, I feel like this is a strong lineup for the festival. The headliners are not as good as I think they’ve been in the past, but there are still some heavy hitters. Bon Iver performing their only show in Wisconsin this season, they absolutely knew Billie Eilish was going to be one of the hottest acts in America and Kane Brown who opens for Jason Aldean could not be more popular with country music right now.
As for the other stages, there are popular acts for that might not have mass appeal, but for the genre alone, people will be fired up to see them. Brothers Osbourne, Boogie With Da Hoodie are two that come to mind. Lizzo is having a moment and one of the hottest acts going. She’s going to have a massive crowd tomorrow. The National and Chrvches playing the Miller Oasis are also major moves by Summerfest.
If you think it’s overrated, I get it. The crowds suck sometimes. You cannot see the music. But I would recommend going non-weekend and earlier in the night when you can walk around. My girlfriend and I did a Tour De Summerfest where we saw all the acts playing that night and just stopped for maybe two songs at most. It was a ton of fun.
