Wisconsin Badgers Celebrate Improbable Big Ten Title

A month ago, Wisconsin Badgers were just hoping to make the NCAA Tournament. CBS Sports bracketologist Jerry Palm put the Badgers out of the tournament in early February. Now, Wisconsin is safely in, and they’ve won a Big Ten title for the first time since 2015. Badgers head coach Greg Gard turned around a team that dealt with controversy and distraction into a very successful team within 45 days. When Wisconsin came home after their big win against Indiana, they celebrated at the Kohl Center with their fans. Badgers enjoyed their day without question.

I’m sure Wisconsin wishes they could have cut down the nets like Creighton and other teams did at home on Saturday (Don’t get mad, Seton Hall!). But it seemed like they had a good time when Wisconsin made it back home to Madison. Wisconsin won eight straight games to finish off the season. What’s crazy is Michigan State and Wisconsin could battle for the hottest team in the country right now, and they’re in the same conference. Round three between the Spartans and Badgers would be must-see television. There is a discussion to be had on whether it would be better for Wisconsin to drop a game before the NCAA Tournament.
Gard did not get nominated for National Coach of the Year which I think is fair. Wisconsin did something great in the conference, but there were others like Anthony Grant, Brian Dutcher who had much better years. But still, this is his finest hour as the Badgers head coach.
