Would Drink The Wisconsin O-Line Weight-Gain Smoothie?
The offensive line is a position in football I know well. I played it for 10 years. Never once was asked to gain weight. You might be able to figure out why that is. I did get asked to lose weight, but it wasn’t until after football where I unlocked a desire to lift, run, and lose weight. I’m sure that frustrated any of my former coaches reading this. Emily Kaplan of ESPN.com wrote a great story today about how offensive linemen lose all their weight in retirement. It is truly fascinating to watch an offensive lineman retire from football then shed weight like no one’s business. Former Wisconsin Badgers and NFL great Joe Thomas is featured in the article. Thomas describes the smoothie that Badgers’ staff made guys drink to add weight. In a surprise to no one, it’s very Wisconsin.

I don’t know about you guys, but this sounds like gut rot to the highest degree. Or a stomach explosion waiting to happen. To me, everyone hits a breaking point with dairy and if they have too much, they’re on the toilet like Lloyd Christmas in Dumb and Dumber. Heavy whipping cream is great in main creamy dishes or desserts. In fact, it is what adds the creaminess of food which is always a good thing.
