A.J. Dillon Makes His Case For Packers to Have NFL’s Best Running Back Tandem
Green Bay Packers are still working through OTAs. Things seem like they’re going well in God’s land. A bunch of Packers’ players met with the media yesterday and one of those players was A.J. Dillon. Dillon likely expected to have a bigger role this season assuming that Aaron Jones would not be on the roster. Jones is back in the mix with Jamaal Williams making his exit to Detroit. Dillon still thinks the Packers’ running back room could be the best in football. That might be a stretch, but I admire Dillon’s confidence in what he and Jones can bring to the table.
AJ Dillon is setting some lofty expectations for what he and Aaron Jones can do together from #Packers backfield. “I think we can be the best running back tandem in the league.”

Now, it’s going to be hard to compete with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Those guys are the best tandem in the league right now. They’re very good and no real plans of slowing down this season. But other than that, the door is open. People like Indianapolis, New Orleans, or Minnesota’s tandems as the second best. Yet are they really that special? Hunt and Chubb are special. They can kill you in a ton of ways. Similar to Dillon’s point in the sense they can do it in a few different ways. That’s what I like about this duo in Green Bay.
Let’s also get real for a second. If Aaron Rodgers decides not to play this season, Jones and Dillon are the reason why I think they can still be successful and push for a playoff spot. It will not be easy given the schedule, but it’s possible with this running attack. Jordan Love’s job likely becomes easier with Jones and Dillon in the backfield.
