A.J. Dillon, the Pass-Catcher, Coming Your Way This Fall
Minicamp for the NFL is nothing to get too hyped about. Sure, there are some nuggets to take away and file into the notepad until July starts. One of those nuggets could be that A.J. Dillon is being used more as a pass-catcher than people likely expected. Yesterday, Dillon caught a deep wheel route from Jordan Love. If the Packers can get Dillon more comfortable in the passing game, that would be a huge win for Green Bay. All it does is add another weapon for Aaron Rodgers or Love. Head Coach Matt LaFleur had some thoughts on Dillon out of the backfield as well as the Packers’ running back who gave a shout to the haters.
Matt LaFleur says AJ Dillon's receiving ability can be "deceptive" as a big RB: "It's rare that you see a guy that size able to catch the ball as fluidly and naturally as he can."

If Dillon becomes a reliable option for the Packers in the passing game, sign me up. That can be a vital part of what the Packers do from a scheme perspective. No one is going to know what’s coming at them whether it’s Jones or Dillon. Now to be a little bit of a hater, a ball from Love, who is a training buddy, is a lot different than Rodgers. It just is. I need to see more of Dillon catching the ball out of Rodgers’ hand but feels like the Packers’ coaching staff thinks he can do that too.
