A Marquette Million: Golden Eagles Take Home TBT Championship
Marquette Golden Eagles alumni team is full of Marquette legends. Those legends have come close to winning the TBT Tournament, but they’ve never finished the deal. After losing in the championship game last season, the Golden Eagles came back with hunger and revenge. They beat team Sideline Cancer with a 78-73 victory that included an Elam Ending from Travis Diener, the elder statesman of Marquette. Diener hitting the last shot is fitting.

It was a great shot with perfect ball movement from the Golden Eagles. Sideline Cancer made a late comeback to tie up the game at 70 with four minutes left to go in the game. Marquette never showed any sign of timidness or nerves on the court. They were great from start to finish. Even though it was not a full TBT tournament, there were talented teams all over the bracket. It is something to be proud of for Marquette.
One point of contention is that Jamil Wilson should have been the MVP over Darius Johnson-Odom. While DJO did play well, Wilson is the glue of this team. He is the one that makes a big shot whenever Marquette is looking for a bucket. He has five Elam Endings. NBA should 100 percent call on Wilson for the bubble. Not sure if he can handle two bubbles, but the Racine native could fit in nicely with Brooklyn or Washington.
Happy for all involved with this tournament as well. The TBT executed everything perfectly with only three positive tests the entire duration of the event. If I’m baseball, basketball, hockey, college football, I’m talking with the TBT and trying to figure out how they did everything. The TBT tournament should provide hope to those who are trying to pull off a season in the coming weeks.
