Brett Hundley Deserves Credit From Packers Fans
Brett Hundley will look back at this season as one where he saw more playing time than he had all of his first three seasons. No one really saw this year being about can the former UCLA quarterback take this team far enough to have a chance at the playoffs? But that’s exactly what he did. Hundley steadied the ship to make this a 7-6 team to have an outside shot at a playoff berth. Aaron Rodgers should return next week to play Carolina with Hundley assuming his role back on the bench, but he did great work even if there were some low points.
When the Hundley era began against New Orleans, everyone freaked out about the performance of the young quarterback. At the time, you didn’t know how good the Saints were and how much Hundley was behind the eight ball. Then Detroit happened which looked even uglier yet Green Bay found a way to respond. Lambeau Field proved to be a house of horrors for the young quarterback, but that makes a little bit of sense given the ramifications of playing at a hallow ground. It was a rollercoaster ride, but in the end, you can say it did not have as many scares as maybe expected.
Hundley should have confidence and his head held high for the remainder of the year. He led three fourth quarter comebacks in the last three weeks with Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Cleveland. All three had glimpses of stellar quarterback play. He finished today with 265 yards three touchdowns and no interceptions. Once again, he found a way to pull some magic out of his ass late in this game. If for some reason Rodgers can’t go on Sunday, Hundley will have a much harder test with Carolina, but I feel a little more confident in his skillset.
Good job, Brett.
